  • WHAT IS CBD?
    • CBD, or more specifically, cannabidiol is a cannabinoid that is found naturally in the cannabis/hemp plant. At Holistic Botanicals we use high quality hemp imported from Europe, using flowers, and buds selected for maximum CBD and minimal THC (legally < 0.2%).

       

  • IS CBD HEMP OIL THE SAME AS HEMP SEED OIL?
    • No.  Standard Hemp seed oil which can be purchased, at many local retail stores is a much different product than CBD hemp oil. Hemp seed oil is made by cold pressing hemp seeds. This results in extremely low levels of CBD. CBD Oil is extracted from the plant and is then emulsified into hemp seed oil. Regular hemp oil is considered to be a great nutritive food, and may provide benefits for certain ailments, but it only has a trace amount of CBD in it, and it is the CBD that is being so widely recognized and studied for its potentially far reaching abilities.

  • IS YOUR CBD SYNTHETIC?
    • No. Our CBD is a natural constituent of the hemp plant.

  • DOES CBD OIL GET YOU “HIGH”?
    • CBD and THC are both cannabinoids, but THC is the cannabinoid that gets you “high” or “stoned.” CBD is not psychoactive like THC, meaning it won’t get you “high.”

  • IS CBD OIL LEGAL?
    • CBD Hemp Oil is legal to trade in the entire EU and most countries around the world. If the oil contains a legal standard of less than <0.2% THC or none. However some countries do have restrictions on receiving Hemp oil. If you are unsure about receiving hemp oil in your country, you can contact your local customs for information and/or required import documents.

  • I’VE NEVER TRIED CBD. WHERE SHOULD I START?
    • We recommend a 5% hemp infused CBD Oil as a starter.  (See “How Much CBD Should I Take?”)

  • HOW MUCH CBD SHOULD I TAKE?
    • Start with 1 or 2 drops under the tongue, morning and evening.  The right treatment regimen depends on the person and condition being treated.

      As serving size or dosage of CBD differs for each person, it is best to start small and gradually increase until you experience the desired result.  Use the same dose and ratio for several days. Observe the effects and if necessary adjust the amount.

      If you have difficulty sleeping, take the CBD oil at least 2 hours before bedtime.

  • CAN I TAKE TOO MUCH CBD? WILL IT HURT ME?
    • It is virtually impossible to take too much hemp CBD oil.  Research shows CBD to be a safe natural remedy. CBD has not been seen to have a fatal overdose level, even when one takes extreme dosages.

  • WILL CBD HELP ME WITH MY ILLNESS/AILMENT?
    • We cannot make claims about whether or not CBD can help with specific ailments. CBD Hemp oil is a dietary supplement that has many reported benefits. However, we recommend that you do your own research on the abundant reliable sources available online for your specific ailment.

  • IS CBD HEMP OIL SAFE FOR CHILDREN AND/OR PETS?
    • We cannot administer medical advice.  But, we can report that many toddlers are taking CBD Hemp Oil daily for many of the same medical conditions that teens and adults are using it for.  As well, we are aware of numerous pets who take CBD daily without any ill effects.

  • WHAT IS THE SAFETY OF CANNABIDIOL AND YOUR HEMP CBD OIL? ARE THERE NEGATIVE SIDE EFFECTS?
    • Cannabidiol (CBD), and other phytochemical constituents of cannabis are considered by most to be generally safe. In hemp’s thousands of years of use there has not been one recorded fatality or major illness contributed to its use that we know of.

      There are no major side effects from the main component of hemp oil, CBD. However, there are still precautions you should take before consuming hemp oil.

      ALL OF THE MENTIONED SIDE EFFECTS BELOW ARE VERY RARE AND OCCUR ONLY IN EXTREME CASES.  IN FACT, THE SIDE EFFECTS OF CBD HEMP OIL ARE MINOR COMPARED TO THE SIDE EFFECTS OF PHARMACEUTICALS.

      1. Excess polyunsaturated fatty acids, omega 3 and omega 6, are responsible for cardiac dysfunction and susceptibility to bacterial infections : Consume only the advised serving sizes of your hemp oil product.
      2. Produces harmful peroxides under intense heat : Do not heat or use in hot dishes over 121 °F.
      3. May lead to digestive problems; painful cramps and diarrhoea : Stop using hemp oil products if you are susceptible to bowel movement disorders.
      4. In rare cases, overly sensitive individuals may experience the feeling of being high while using hemp oil products which contain small traces of THC : Stop using hemp oil if you are overly sensitive to THC, or consult your doctor if you need to continue consuming it.
      5. Hemp oil can affect how the anticoagulant and blood platelets work or even stop their production : If you have blood clotting deficiencies, you should consume hemp oil only after consulting your doctor.

      CBD can be “wake promoting,” which means if you take CBD extract close to bedtime, it can keep you awake.  We therefore recommend taking CBD oil at least 2 hours before bedtime.

  • WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE OF CBD OIL?
    • The shelf life is approximately 12 months from the moment it’s bottled.

      However, how the bottle is stored can impact the shelf life. We advise customers to store the oil in a cool dry place, and once opened, keep refrigerated.

  • HOW LONG DOES CBD HEMP OIL TAKE TO WORK?
    • It generally only takes about 20-30 minutes for CBD to become effective. Most people when first starting out do not know what to expect and often overlook that CBD is beginning to help their condition. Since there is no “high” to report, most people don’t know that the CBD is doing anything. Only after a while do they realize that any pain they may have had is no longer there or not as intense. The “feeling” of CBD is so subtle that usually all that is able to be identified is a subtle calming. After several uses, many people reported that they notice it “taking the edge” off minutes after administering.

  • DOES THE CBD OIL CONTAIN ALCOHOL?
    • No.  Alcohol is used to facilitate the CBD extraction from the hemp flowers/buds, however, all alcohol is evaporated off during the extraction process.

  • CAN I BREASTFEED WHILST TAKING CBD HEMP OIL?
    • Very little is known about CBD and lactation. However cannabinoids, naturally occur in breast milk, prompting some to believe that cannabinoids support the immunity, development, and functioning of new born babies. Individuals should use discretion and consult with a physician who understands CBD and its properties before use.
